Whereas you're just like peace and love and happiness obviously!

Seriously though, who cares what the venue is/was? Doesn't looking at that clip and the way the room erupts take you back? There is not one person in that room who isn't wasted and having a wicked time, not a single one. You don't get that any more (in the UK anyway).

You're right.

Everyone who keeps saying... "The scene isn't dead.... it's going to come back... or whatever..."

Sorry, folks... it will NEVER come back like it was back then. Those days are gone forever. I'm glad I caught the tail end of it, because I've got a lot of great memories. Even still, when I visit old friends and we try to recreate the vibe from the glory days... but it just can't be done.
what glory days are you talking about subterFUSE ? have you lived somewhere else other than florida ? or done some travelling ?....I'm going out on a limb here, but I doubt florida has seen this kind of thing. or am I a victim of stereotyping ? Florida - the redneck state? where you're looking at a lifetime in prison for running a club where this kind of thing went on ?
Whereas I'm sure nothing could add up to the Mecca that Madchester used to be, Miami used to have quite a kicking scene.

I'm talking about hedonistic drug use, in particular Ecstacy/MDMA - if you're saying that was going on in the same way or more than in the UK.....then ok, I'll take you're word for it

MDMA was all over the place, man. And there was really good stuff.... and there still is, if you know where to find it.

What is different now is that there are 2 AM liquor laws, and 3 AM closings. Back in the 1990s, the clubs stayed open all night, and into the next day.

really?

last time I was down there I was out all night (South Beach)

on the subject - XTC is was amazing the FIRST time you took it - after that...

for a lot of people the early 90's was the first time they took a pill - changed perceptions and everything - opened up a whole new world

by time the turn of the century if you were still doing E it's obviously not even going to be near the same experience - which would lead one to believe better days have gone by - and they have

but I'm sure someone somewhere today took their first e-bomb and in another 5 to 10 years will say - "They just don't make pills the way they used to."

hell, say what you want about the original posted video, but i got goosebumps watching it!!

i used to go to many a rave in LA and SF between 98-2001. and did loads of E, but here, in cali, the cats i hung with were freakin alchemists; we all did a whole regimen of multi vitamins, 5htp, wheatgrass, blah blah, blah...before and after partying. i never had any hangovers. hell, i was healthier then than i am now in my drug free phase.

i just remember washes of sounds and screaming and jumping and hugging and all that shit. and i feel so honored to have been able to be apart of something that was, although shortlived, so idealistic and beautiful.

South Beach has 5 AM close. Downtown Miami has some places which can stay open all night.

But those are the exception, not the rule. Many places in Florida have 2 AM liquor laws, and 3 AM closings. Orlando had a FAR better scene than Miami did back in the heyday of the 1990s.
