question to CDJ owners
i would like to ask you guys how accurate is the bpm change?
i cant dj very well, but i would like to use CDJ's as a locked groove source which i can scratch over Live.
it would be nice to have something on a cd which the original source was renderes out at 125 bpm. if i then play a 128 bpm track from Live and thus adjust the cdj + 3.0 bpm.. it should be in perfect bpm as the choon playing in Live.
Now tell me, what CDJ's are capable of this accuracy in bpm adjustments.
much thanks

When I do get the opportunity to play on them I'm completely blown away at how locked they stay on tempo - you can match the beat and go about your business, you don't really have to ride the fader

you fiddled with the 200's or only the cdj1000's (the kickass one if i got the wrong model)? ive toyed with 1000 (?) mk1's many years ago
haven't really touched the 200's - I used to play on the 100's when I did a radio show back in the day but I've been pretty fortunate to play on the 1000's
they say the 800's are pretty much the 1000's - just a little scaled down...a friend of mine said she tried to mix on the 200's and it really wasn't working out for her...so I don't know

the 1000's will not dift at all once your speeds are aligned.
i suggest you render out your track at say, 125bpm, then set your live project to 125bpm.
there's a speed lock button on the cdj100, press this. your 2 tunes (1 on ableton, 1 on the cdj) will stay in perfect time forever.
if you live in the uk, i have 2 cdj 100's for sale on ebay at the moment. they are killer machines....

I used to do a particular live "mash-up" in some of my sets. I could always get the beats in perfect sync on the 1000s, and they'd then stay in sync. When I tried it on the 100s they drifted. (I figure the 200s will behave similarly to the 100s, and the 800s will behave similarly to the 1000s.)Adonis wrote:a friend of mine said she tried to mix on the 200's and it really wasn't working out for her...
I understand lots of people are unhappy with the 800 Mk2. Something to do with the algorithm for pitch shifting /master tempo. So I'd recommend the 1000s (you won't regret it) or even the 800 Mk 1.
OS X, Live 9, Microbook II
Re: question to CDJ owners
I was thinking about routing CDJ 1000's through a sound card to Ableton, to use some of the effects from live, and then further routing that to a DJM 800. I don't thing you could directly link CDJ 1000's or older to any software without Serato or Traktor control disks though.
