Single Ableton Plug-in killing CPU

Post by punkdISCO » Thu Nov 02, 2006 9:36 am

Hey all – I have experienced this before with Live6 but never with such a simple example.

Im working on a new track so very simple, only 6 audio track in the Session view (say, 24 clips over these tracks) Last night I load up and CPU goes to 300% and stays there even when stopped. Obviously no audio is played when I press Play.

Prior experience tells me that this is a plug-in issue so I go searching. To my surprise I was only using one plug-in, EQ8 and sure enough, turning this on/off causes the CPU to go 300% / 0%

My solution was to drop in another EQ8 on the same track, copy the settings and then delete the original. Nothing else was changed.

Finally, this is not limited the EQ8. I have also seen it with the Filtered Delay thingy.

Anyone else seen this before?
