No, it's not. It also involves the people who suffer from the damage. And don't give me any of that "but I wouldn't have bought it anyway" crap, that's total bull. You desperately want to make music but can't afford Live? Then you'd have bought something else instead - Magix Music Studio, Logic Express, Cubase Studio or Numerology. Or you'd have chosen to purchase a MIDI controller that comes with Live Lite. Those are the ones you hurt by being an ignorant S.O.B. instead of putting your money where your mouth is. If Live is that important to you, then you would find a way to come up with the money (hint: it's called job). If not, people have done incredible music using CSound or PD.

My point was it's not my business to judge people because they use cracked software...

If that's something you want to do that's cool to...

for the record I own all my software so that whole rant was maybe misdirected?

Dude can do whatever he likes, just use discretion when talking about that shit on the internet

I do judge people on their use of cracked software. I have seen my friends getting laid off just because some boneheads that thought pirating software is better than paying for it. It hurts, you know.

re-read ploy's original posts, he's cool, he just kinda screwed up. It hurts the industry but it's also something they're aware of, they plan pricing around it and put out their own cracks. True, ploy jacked the prices on OUR versions of Live but it's no suprise to anyone that there are cracks being used.

Ploy, sorry for serving up the haterade.

Well sorry to hear about your friends

however, like record companies and the such software companies have to try to figure out how to maintain in this day and age of the internet...the record business adapted to the internet peer to peer downloading - I'm sure Ableton and other companies will do the same in regards to cracks

If a company chooses not adapt to the environment, it will eventually go out of business

all in all it feels way strange how less constructive things are messed up, it basically sounds like a discussion in pre-school. i guess everyone knows about the damage piracy is to be blamed for, but why doesn´t come much more to your minds than raising axes? i think the whole complex which surrounds this matter isn´t that simple, and it´s way lame to disrespect this at all.

escpecially when it comes down to the fact that this thread would have liked to be something postive on live, the pure fascination one can feel while having time on this fine piece of work. for me those things are much more important, finally.

I'm not judging you for using cracks, sometimes that's the only way to see if a piece of software will work for you...

BUT you didn't have to dangle the fact that you are using a crack to a forum of fanboys and girls who have forked out $$$ to support the Abes.

That information was not necessary to your post of enthusiasm. Now go make some beats until your version crashes (it will happen and you will lose data) so when you can, buy it and protect those ASDs!

enjoy!

Chill ploy...I too have got nothin against you and its good that you are enjoyin' Live. You can make a new name, and then you can talk to everyone (If you want to of course  ) without them kickin' off about the crack habit.
Adonis actually made sense...proper sense he's not judgin' and nor am I, what he said is true. Word.

Then put your money where your mouth is. If it's worth using and raving about it, it's most definitely worth rewarding the fine people who created this wonderful software. They devoted years of their lives in order to provide you with this phenomenal program, so you should be fair and pay your respect by supporting them through an actual purchase. Otherwise you are spitting in the faces of those who created your favorite music program.

Reward?

How about compensate them for their time and effort?

You reward someone for finding your dog or running a race...
