i am making a song and a baseline i think naturally presented itself with the key that the song is in. i am sure most of you have just come across something that "works"
the problem is, someones already done that baseline (the same chords progressions), and used it in a classic electronica song. is it ok for me to continue to use mine still, or should i try and change it up?

yeah its true..i find myself ripping off underworld every chance i get, but this is almost the exact bassline of a famous group. i would be fine with it if the song wasnt well known, or i thought i might be able to make a song that was better, but that song is a classic.
i just dont want people going, this song sounds good, but it sounds like they ripped off so and so...the comparisons will come up for those who are into electronic music, i am sure.
my girlfriend, on the other hand, listened to the two side by side and didnt think they sounded similar at all. i tried to explain to her that it wasnt what was on top, but the bassline underneath that gave it the same feel. she didnt see the comparison.
well, the bassline works too well for me not to use it. i think i'll change it up if people start accussing me of ripping off other artists...
