mbp 2.66, osx 10.6.8, 8GB ram.
i see the dudes from hella walking around my neighborhood all the time.
it's funny that as soon as someone posts a drummer link everyone gets all defensive and starts the obvious name dropping.
you think bonham and tony williams are great? wow, what a great observation, you're the first one.
haha, it's just funny that a guy i see down the block at the coffee shop gets "pwned" on a message board by someone dropping bonham.

I like Bernard Purdies feel he has one of the best hi hats sounds (he played on shaft) and one of the most recorded drummers of all time

Not a drummer but one of the best congueros in the world Giovanni Hidalgo does shit on the conga that i dont think anyone before him has been able to do
http://youtube.com/watch?v=KbyIv9n_-d0
I was lucky enough to meet both these guys at NAMM years back when I had a stall with my kits http://www.spiritdrums.com It was a buzz to have our kits played by some of the best drummers in the world. Bernard spent a lot of time playing one of our kits he knows how to groove and get the best out of a kit.

We had a good connection with Bernard and I still email him occaisonally. Namm is a great place to meet some of the best musicians in the world. I remember maybe 6-7 years ago in one day at NAMM you could see Giovanni Jammin on the Lp stall, Grandmaster Flash doing a set, Bootsy Collins playing Bass on another stall and the Scratch Piklz on the vestax stall and George Clinton just wandering around with entourage in tow. For those close to LA (site of winter Namm) it is definately worth trying to get there if only to droll over the gear available.paradiddle wrote:You met Purdie, that's pretty cool. I see on your site that you Ferrone plays some of your drums. That's another good groover.
Steve Ferrone is an awesome guy and uses our snares. He is another guy who has played with virtually everyone. A funny guy who we took the piss out of a lot and could take.
Other notables with one of of snares
Billy Cobham
Cindy Blackman (lenny Kravitz)
Steve White (UK studio ex style Council)
Really shows the importance of dynamics... When all the sounds are the same volume, the life can really get sucked out of a recording / performance!DeadlyKungFu wrote:pfffft, sit down.

Hahaaahaha, that is awesome! When they started doing the second track and then the third I kept thinking "how long will they drag this out" but they keep topping the previous track each time.Brando wrote:Figured I would dust off the kit & give it a whirl ... Relax. It turned into a "post youtube drummer videos" thread. It's not just about Hella. But congrats for living near the dudeCITYSTATE wrote:i see the dudes from hella walking around my neighborhood all the time.

dRummerworld
If there is one drummer which can be described as the master it's Buddy Rich.

Go and watch his video's and sell all you gear to become a drummer. This man gave so much inspiration to me that I called one of my early tracks Drummerworld. If you like to check my track too, feel free to check it on myspace. Be aware that my drumqualities have nothing to do with Buddy rich;)
