"Remixing in Live"
DJ Gene Lee will join SLUG in association with SCC's MeNaC (the Shoreline Community College Music Networking Club) to demonstrate the construction of a song from the ground up. Gene will create a song using Live sequencing capabilities for remixing a sample. He will offer tips and tricks he uses to get up and running quickly to create original songs through remixing. Gene will demonstrate the use of:
-Live's native effects
-Third-party VST effects
-Third-party VST instruments
DJ Gene Lee uses Live professionally to produce House, Rock, and Hip-hop remixes and original music from samples. He's been using Live as the hub of his productions for the past 3 years. He's known locally as primarily a House DJ. His productions can be heard worldwide being played by DJs Dan, Mark Farina, Joey Youngman and Donald Claude to name a few. Donald Claude was instrumental in encouraging Gene to get into DJing and producing when he started over 10 years ago. He can be heard spinning as a resident DJ at The Last Supper Club the 3rd Saturday every month. Look out for his new VINYL EP coming out on PoundMusic Records, which is being produced entirely in Live. Gene is also-known-as half of "Lee Majors" of the Lost Boys crew. Find out more about upcoming projects and gigs at

Gene is also one of the founding members of MeNaC, the Music Networking Club at Shoreline Community College (SCC). MeNaC is being created for SCC students in the music programs to enable them to network with peers on-campus. MeNaC produces shows featuring SCC talent. This Ableton Live demonstration is the second show in MeNaC's first month of existence, following DJ Wars: Episode I The Phantom MeNaC on the SCC campus. MeNaC will soon launch a website featuring musicians, engineers, songwriters and music business majors.
