$350 for a 1000 is a hell of a deal.

yeah the cat I got it from didn't even use it as a sampler, just a drum machine to go with his dave smith. I'm thinking about picking up another one as I see them for 599 lately, that's still a rediculous price for what you can do and the os makes it a steal

Lucky you. I paid 1000 Euro and there is no way to get used one for less then 700 on Ebay. and even then with probably half broken pads, but for what you paid can get MPD or padKontrol and still it is cheap.

I wouldnt dare to ask it on MPC forum, but I really like somebody let me know what MPC can do that Live cannot and what is so Ho, Ho, Ha ha. Wow about JJ OS that people are so hysterically enthusiastic.
Maybe I am missng something, so will appreciate some input on that.
All right I bought MPC to do what Live definitely cannot handle well- MIDI , to do my:

1. beats
2. hardware sequencing

I bought the JJ OS more as appreciation and support, since I love the idea of the whole thing, hope there will be more such attempts at pimping hardware of those industry monopolists like Yamaha or Korg. The official Akai OS wasnt bad and perhaps JJ OS is already worth just for the bugs they corrected, but there must be much more to it and my Japanese, and Japenglish is not good enough to understand anything from their site.
I am not so thrilled since apart from the fact that it is nicer to edit something with jog dial and not mouse, in the end it is much easier and faster to prepare audio loops in Live ( and /or Recycle, Wavelab or whatever) then transfer to MPC, it is different for people who use MPC exclusively.
The point is why should I limit myself to the hardware when software does it better and faster, the idea is getting the best out of each and avoid their weak sides..
