spurious warp markers when recording with external midi sync

Post by kuniklo » Tue Nov 07, 2006 10:08 pm

If I try to record audio clips in Live when Live is synced to an external clock I get all kinds of spurious warp markers and glitches. If I make Live the master and record the same audio it works fine.

To reproduce:

1. sync Live to an external midi clock source (I'm using either an E-Mu PX-7 or MPC 1000)

2. record enable an audio track with the external device (mpc) as input

3. start playback from the mpc and record a short (~4 bar) loop

The resulting audio clip is full of randomly placed warp markers and plays back with lots of glitches and pitch anomalies. It looks like small fluctuations in the external midi clock are confusing Live's warping algorithms. If I try the same thing with Live as midi clock master and the mpc as the slave everything works as expected.

specs:
Live 6.0.1
Windows XP with Athlon X2 or Macbook Pro with Os X 10.4.8
Motu Ultralite firewire interface.
