Hi Hambone,

As far as I know, you can't Rewire Live to itself, at all.
There is a workaround on PC to open two instances of Live and to synchronize them via a virtual MIDI port, but I believe that on the Mac you simply can't open multiple instances of Live, can you?

Yes, I can open multiple instances. They both try to be the master application, though. I can get them both running, and send MIDI between them via the IAC bus, but I can't synch them.

So you could try to sync them using IAC, but that is experimental... other users have reported a certain success...

You would then have to use an uadio trick as well for the two instance to each have its own 'output'

It's only MIDI I need in the second instance of Live.

IAC sync is working great! :D

Thanks!

I've got it working, but when I launch the two copies of Live, they both have the same MIDI prefs, even though I changed and saved them separately. They must be reading the same configuration file.

Any way around this?

likely a dumb question, but why do you want to run two instances of live on the same machine?

I run audio and video on one instance of Live, and lighting on a second instance. The lighting was running on my iBook, which just died.

Incorporating the lighting set into the A/V set would create an unmanageable monster of a set. It was working great when on two computers, so I'm trying to accomplish the same on one.

Sorted! Audio and video running in Live 6, lighting in Live 5 with IAC sync from 6.

Works great!
