Install DIR Option for EIC (And Similar Size Live Packs)

Post by kineticUk » Tue Oct 17, 2006 12:40 am

You should be able to install EIC and future live pack sample libraries (Multi Gb Ones) to a user specified directory. One that is seperate from the main Live library.
I want to put it on my audio disk, but I'd like to keep my Library on my laptop (For presets don't use much space and if I travel). If there was an option for install dir in the products page under EIC, the problem would be solved.
Its a massive library (EIC) and it should be possible to install it to a location that is seperate from the main libray. Live can then reference the audio and still store the presets in Library. And I can use my audio disk for audio.

Thanks
(My apologies if this is already possible)

Surely I am not the only one who wants to choose where EIC should install ?
...Ok then maybe I am.

Please ableton let me install EIC where I like.
I have got patches on my main drive (Ableton Library)
And samples and sample libraries (k2, etc) on my second drive.
I just want to be able to install EIC where I have space, without having to move the ableton library off my laptop drive.
Just an install dir option so I can use EIC. Please.

Amaury has kindly shown me how to get around this problem for now, so I'm gonna link the topic so that there are instructions for anyone who needs EIC installed seperate to the Live Library. In the future there will probably be an install dir option but this should do the trick for now. And at least I can use EIC now.

Cryptic UK your posts look like a pool game...I reckon with the right skills I could pot all four of those  balls into the top right corner...place your bets now.
And theres an easy shot for you, both in the centre right pocket.
Ok lets leave this here, so others can see the link and don't get distracted by the pool tables.

This is an ok hack, but it means, does it not, having to figure out JUST what the bits are that are EIC and move them - this seems a bit tricky if you want to keep the basic install samples on your local hard drive and the EIC and other packs on an external drive. Yikes!

So yes, PLEASE let us know if 6.0.4 will include user-determined path for EIC, etc.

Many thanks for a super product.

Does 7 beta have user determinable path for EIC?

Post by mclive » Sat Nov 03, 2007 11:55 am

Well we're up to 6.10 on LIVE with 7 in beta

anyone know if in 7 you can set your own path for EIC or any other packs you want to add and not have on your main (laptop) drive?

with thanks
