Soundflower into Live: Noise, latency

Post by Calhoun » Wed Nov 15, 2006 4:43 am

I'm using Soundflower to route stereo sound from other apps into Live. No matter what I set for the buffer size in Live's prefs, after a few minutes the sound begins to get noisy (crackly, actually) and the only thing that seems to help is to increase the buffer size. This happens repeatedly every few minutes until the buffer size is maxed out.

Anyone have any advice, or anyone having similar issues? I'm using a 1.5 GHz Powerbook G4 if that matters. Thanks for any help.

Soundflower doesn't even work for intel macs in live, as far as I can tell. Option is in the menu, but can't select it. (JACK is always an option if no one has any solution for you.)

I'm not on Intel yet, but it is supported now: http://www.cycling74.com/story/2006/8/3/102517/2327. Maybe you just need the newest version.

Sorry, I was unclear -- it works on intel, just not with live (i.e. there is a bug in one of the two programs). Anyways, in the interests of not derailing your thread further, here is a link to the program I mentioned, JACK, which does work, and is actually somewhat more powerful (if a little more annoying to use) than soundflower.
