Not sure but i think Emu format cd's use a different filesystem to pc etc & so can't be read without some third party software that can understand the filesystem.

I think Chicken Systems - Translator maybe able to read them & convert the presets to other formats , there are also free & demo versions to try.

You could try searching google for a driver or something that may allow you to mount the cd in such a way as to give you direct access to the cd but the samples may well be unreadable by anything except a emu sampler or raw sample editor.

EMU sample cd-rom import in Sampler

Post by bosley » Thu Nov 16, 2006 8:23 am

thanx for your eplication.
the fact is I don't want to transform the EMU format (in AIFF for example (because EMU samples just sound so good!).
I'm a little bit disapointed now because Ableton says Sampler reads EMU samples, and i have a massive collection of it.

perhaps with a SCSI cd rom?
i let u know, cheers

Well, it is possible via Kontakt - I do not think that there is currently another way.

Or maybe get a translater that supports EOS and a sampler supported by Sampler (like exs or Kontakt) and do a conversion like that ...

best

if you manage it, would be great to know how - I can't even mount the EOS sample CDROMs :( But now I'm wondering if the Emu Sampler can save them onto another harddrive formatted other than EOS.... I check out the manual.

I've contacted Ableton Support about importing Akai pgm files too - Sampler can import exs files and the related samples, but the Akai pgm files are not seen by Sampler - so I'm wondering what Ableton are referring to when they say "Sampler plays and imports multisample libraries in the common formats: AKAI S1000, S3000, ..."

Exreme sample converter can convert EMU (emulatorX) stuff to kontct, HALion, Wusik, GIga, etc (don't have sampler so don't know what you need). Will also import AKAI CDs if you are that way inclined.

http://www.extranslator.com/formats.html

they've got special offers on if you own wusikstation or manystation, that's how i got mine.
