Hardware synth editing software
Hardware synth editing software
Hi, i've recently got a Korg MS2000 and use it in Ableton. When recording synth parts I mess with the filters etc a lot but I want a way of going back and editing them in Ableton. Ableton records all the changes i'm making to the sound but I can't actually view the filter/LFO changes etc once i've done them. If there anyway of viewing all the parameters of the MS2000 within Ableton in "envelope" form as you can with VSTs etc.
Hope this makes sense. There's probably a similar topic already but I couldn't find one unfortunately.

Heh, err... I'm talking about a problem with the MS2000 already connected via MIDI to Ableton.rbmonosylabik wrote:Connect it via MIDI.
Quite disappointing that there's no obvious solution to this. I don't know if its Ableton's fault or just the way Hardware Synths and software interract. It seems like its only softsynths that tell software what parameters are supported.
I don't want a list of every function by name eg. LFO, attack etc etc., if there is a way of selecting the parameters via CC number that would be almost as good. Its frustrating to create a synth part with filter changes etc which you can't view via an envelope (even though they've been recorded). The information's obviously there somewhere
Completely different kinds of synths, totally different sounding. Like asking is there a big difference between driving a Honda Civic and a Harley Davidson.Electric Trancer wrote:Is there big difference between MicroKORG and MS2000 ? Sorry for lame question

I'm not sure if you know you this but you can view them in the clip you've recorded, they don't show up in the arrangement view. It would be nice if that was the case and I thought I remember this working with Live 4, but maybe not.JoolsMF wrote:Hi, i've recently got a Korg MS2000 and use it in Ableton. Select the clip after you've recorded it, then view the envelopes. In the dropdown below "MIDI Ctrl", you can select the parameters you've recorded and edit them manually. (i.e. cc 71,74, 79,85 for the filters). It'd be nice if this was part of the arrangement view and not just in the clip, as it makes it a lot harder this way.

Huh? The microKORG has the exact same sound engine, architecture and parameter set as the MS2000.Tarekith wrote:Completely different kinds of synths, totally different sounding. Ummm I'm not so sure about that. Maybe for the sound engine in most respects thats true. But i know that the vocoder for example is 8 band vs. the 16 band on the MS2000. There are some other funtionality differences as well. Not to mention the lack of lots of knobs on the microkorg. I've own both... and for me the MS2000 was much more creative due to lots of control and the mod sequencer. I think also the microkorgs arpeggiator is only 8 steps vs. the MS2000's 16 steps.dr.wackler wrote:Huh? Still you would never say "completely different kinds of synths, totally different sounding", right?3rdordertrauma wrote:Ummm I'm not so sure about that. No I wouldn't say so... and I didn't, I think that was Tarekith. I happen to disagree with that statement. They are hardly as far apart as a Harley and Honda Civic, when it comes to sound... IMO. However you could argue they are very different in the layout and features.dr.wackler wrote:Still you would never say "completely different kinds of synths, totally different sounding", right?![]()
All I'm saying is yes there are some differences in architecture and as a result they sound slightly different. However the vocoder on the other hand sounds very different to my ears.
