Editing the samples with Wavelab crashed Live 3.0.3

Post by raapie » Tue Apr 06, 2004 6:11 pm

I am using Wavelab 4.01b on WindowsXP together with Live 3.0.3

When I edit a loop using the Edit-button in Live something goes wrong. I can edit the file in Wavelab, listen to it through Wavelab and save it. When I then close Wavelab and put the focus on Live I see the clip's wave is being re-drawn because it's changed but when I press the play-button nothing happens. I then close Live and it shows me the Unexpected error window.

What's going on?

Hi raapie,

which audio interface do you use in Live and which one in Wavelab?

When you come back from Wavelab to Live, how much shows Live's CPU usage dispay?

regards,
Alex

sorry, forgot to mention: RME Hammerfall. I am using output 1+2 for Live (inputs: 1+2) and 5+6 as output for Wavelab (inputs: 5+6). so this can't cause a conflic. but if there was a conflict at least Wavelab or Live should complain about it, right?

I am usind RME's latest drivers: 2.7.0.0

As a thought...

Have you deselected your outputs 5+6 from Live so it doesn't even initialize those outs?

As another thought... have you tried having wavelab use a standard output device or other soundcard if you have one?

Are they both using an ASIO driver... or are you using for ex. ASIO drivers for Live and WDM drivers in Wavelab?

I don't know for certain, but it almost sounds like you are using mixed drivers and that most likely wavelab is changing the state/configuration of the hammerfall.

One last thought... you might want to make sure that both live/wavelab are opening the device with the same bit depth and sample rate... ie... both at say 16 bit and 44.1khz or something.

just my 2 cents though :P

no ASIO conflicts between Live and Wavelab it seems. I deselect those output and inputs which I need in Wavelab. Like I said: I can hear a sound when I playback in Wavelab, so there's no conflict on it's output.

bitdepth and sample-rates are declared in the source-file, so when opening a clip from Live into Wavelab, it uses the file-info from the clip. Or am I missing something here?

oh I forgot to mention: when I open Live and open a song and press play and then open Wavelab and do the same, both apps are playing back sound. when I then close Wavelab and after this Live, nothing happens. SO the problem is caused when I press the Edit button in Live.

I think it goes wrong when I saved the file in Wavelab and go back to Live, the wavelform is re-read and then I think something freaks up.

I hope Ableton can solve it.
