IF one is going to make the switch to a Mac, doesn't it seem logical that they would get the very best? I wouldn't mess around with anything less than a Macbook Pro.
Also, most Mac users aren't gamers, nor do they really use P2P software that much. In fact, I don't know if I have seen any of my friends EVER play a game on their Macs... so that's not flawed logic, that's statistical fact from my area. The people I know who own Macs use them for music and general computing only. Ableton, Serato, Logic, etc.
I don't see how using a Mac is "easier." I guess that's just because I've been using Windows-based PC's since Windows came out. I grew up with a Commodore 64. I first started making music on a 133 mHz Pentium with 32 megs of ram! (And at the time, that machine was fast!)
Like someone else said, it's not what you use, it's how you use it. Ultimately the only thing that matters is your creative talent. You can have the most awesome home studio and it doesn't matter if you don't have the talent to take advantage of it. My roommate makes music in Fruity Loops on a shitty PC pieced together from thrift store parts, using an old Yamaha keyboard as a midi controller... and his music is better than mine!
Personally, I like XP because I don't have to worry about not being able to find software. Not to mention FREE software.
