first gig coming up

Post by jordanm » Tue Nov 21, 2006 1:07 pm

Hi guys!
I've been searching this very forum for couple of weeks now, looking for tips and advices from more experienced Live users, polishing my skills and trying to find ultimate setup for my gear. lots of useful stuff you got here!
what I'm on about?
few days ago my flatmate, who's djing in one of london clubs, asked me if I would like to give it a try and play my first live set there. didn't think much and said 'yeah, why not?'

basicaly, I got my uc33e finally programmed now (using mackiecontrol and behringer bcr template I found here) I'll be playing on my mate's laptop (not sure about specs, but it seems to be decent) and live 6.
the only thing I have to sort out now is the set itself, so I'm diggin' through my cd's and hd looking for the right tracks. the whole night is going to be in detroit / minimal / tech style

the deadline is saturday (25th Nov) and I'm not saying I'm shitting my pants, but I'm just trying to get everything working and be prepared for any circumstances. what would you suggest? any tips for a first gig?

thanks
jordan

First off I would use your own laptop...Also you should read this very useful advice....

http://www.livepa.org/faq/#Dos_and_Dont ... Sneakthief_

What kind of set are you going to do? A DJ set or multitrack set?

Seeing that this is your first post you may want to do a search on this board since this question has been asked many times and lots of excellent advice has been offered...

I don't have my own laptop yet, and draging my desktop computer to the venue seems a little bit uncomfortable to me...
I will definately test his laptop prior to going to the club.
thanks for reply, I will check that article and search the board.
cheers!

Get a ground loop isolator.

Don't leave home without it.
