Was playing a set in 6.0.2b5 in the background, while copying files in explorer into the directory of the current project. At some point, live started showing the hourglass cursor and and would not update graphics or respond to mouse clicks. It continued playing the songs and came out of the freeze when the song was over and the cpu meter went down (from 65% to 5%). This lasted for about a minute and a half, during which the program was uncontrollable. Usually, this set plays fine in Live 5.
Later on, while editing the same set and playing it, Live suddenly interrupted playback with a "trrrrrrrrrrrrrr" sound. I clicked on the CPU meter, and it disengaged the soundcard, but gave me a "serious error has occurred. live will quit after you click OK" message. However, it didn't quit, but when I tried to reconnect to the sound driver by clicking the CPU meter again, it froze altogether.
This may or may not have something to do with Waves SSL plugins that we were trying out on one of the tracks (the graphics wasn't showing up properly half of the time) -- as discussed here --
