Lsd "medicine for the mind???"
Lsd "medicine for the mind???"
I've read up on the history of lsd and other psycho active drugs, and have found there origins interesting. Hoffman stated that "It was used very successfully for 10 years in psychoanalysis." So for a while it was good, and people where getting better because of it. Then due to hippy culture and the youth movement of the 60's it took a turn for the worse when people started abusing it. I have spoken with people who has consumed lsd and many claim to have had very positive experiences. Some came to terms with personal demons, others simply felt better about life in general. Some studies show that it lead to increased conscentration when introduced to mathematicians, musicians, and scientists. Many claimed to have reached break throughs in there respective field due to the influence of lsd, allowing them to see things differently.. What is the consensus on lsd in this forum, entirely negative or positive. What are your collective experiences???

I think LSD is something that can easily be overdone, and it's probably not something that anyone should do TOO much during their lifetime... however!
I think that everyone should trip at least a couple times in their life.
I've had some amazing experiences... that's all I can say. I am pretty clean-nosed these days but in my past I've done everything you can imagine, and I gotta say that tripping on acid is probably the most fun you can have while on any substance. Even mushrooms.

i read through the first page of this link and noticed some people mentioning lsd breaking down your ego. i've grown up for the most part without much ego - lsd and mushrooms if anything have helped me to find it, have made myself more aware of it. this has been good for me, it has helped my confidence and self esteem a lot!onek wrote:

I didn't read that thread, but I am pretty sure they're not talking about the same sort of "ego" you're thinking of.PLB wrote:i read through the first page of this link and noticed some people mentioning lsd breaking down your ego. i've grown up for the most part without much ego - lsd and mushrooms if anything have helped me to find it, have made myself more aware of it. this has been good for me, it has helped my confidence and self esteem a lot!onek wrote:

The "ego" they are speaking of is in psychological terms, not having a big head.

"negative" comment:
good things on lsd are bad things, it may feed your senses for freedom and in the same way your need of control raises. that´s very dangerous, and most people who travelled too intense needed other "outworld"-experiences to come back to a basic sanity, their hanging on the absoultes became more destructive than anything else after a while. and those who changed into direction of cocain, speed or meth were just feeding their despair... those who did ecstasy or even heroin do much better those days. cause it´s a face to face with the good, the evil and the beyond death just waiting for you. horrible.
the reason for this lies in the setting of the world and time, maybe in the black heart of it all. if your usual therapist and religions fail (and they will do if you really flew out of all - like a bird) there´s just nothing but a burning poetry that keeps you on your track.
but as i said, all depending on many facts. the prettier the trips the higher the price, the brighter those colors and spirals und the more magic running trough your veins the deeper the hole it might create with it´s .... goddamn quickness. so: great adventure, giving you more than you could take.
"positive" comment:
pure joy.
myself don´t have a clear opinion on that one.

I agree, though I would add that if your family has a history of schizophrenia, or you feel that a paranoid LSD trip would be something that would scar you, (it lasts at least 8 hours in my experiences with it), don't bother with it.SUPERBANANBOMB wrote:I think LSD is something that can easily be overdone, and it's probably not something that anyone should do TOO much during their lifetime... however!

Wow, I've never head of casualties...
LSD definitely isn't for everyone. You have to be strong of mind and will to do it. I am actually hesitant to reccommend it to anyone. I was just assuming that most people on this forum would be mature enough to handle it.
There's a lot of good and bad things to learn from LSD.
You learn that you are nothing, yet you're so important.
You learn that you can't do a damn thing to change anything, yet you are the one that makes all the change.
It's so extreme in every way.
If you're gonna trip acid for the first time, definitely have a "flight instructor" and a safe environment. Don't dose and then go to a bar or go out in public. The best place to be is at home with some video games, weed and trippy toys to play with. :]

to some extend those fears are pushed into users by too much judgement or morals, and definitions of a "right" or "good" trip. to my sense that´s people´s bullshit, not really interested in helping those "casualties" out of their trip but in spotting their shivering fingers on them.Machinesworking wrote:if your family has a history of schizophrenia, or you feel that a paranoid LSD trip would be something that would scar you, (it lasts at least 8 hours in my experiences with it), don't bother with it.

Also, the quality of acid varies GREATLY. It's definitely something you have to do a little research on when it comes to buying and dosing. You need to ask some people who you trust what they thought of it, the quality of it, the kind of trip, et cetera.
[forum mods: you can delete this thread if I am imposing upon topics that aren't allowed.. sorry!]
but anyway...
Definitely have it planned out because shitty circumstances when you are sober are 20x worse when you're trippin'!

that research thing steals a lot of fun from it, for me it is better to handle it loose and by surprise and random. take whatever you are given. that´s always spooky and cruel. "correct" trips maybe be nice, but are not those for example me is out for. but maybe i like crashing, noise, madness, insanity... real illuminmation and salvation, "the analog contact" way too much.SUPERBANANBOMB wrote:Also, the quality of acid varies GREATLY. i'm not talking about 'big head' ego, i'm talking about the ego in the psychological sense.
