can I remap incoming remote midi messages on intel mac?

Post by justplaying » Fri Sep 29, 2006 10:04 am

I really like the automap feature on L6 and it works well with my Uc33e both as mackie control and BCR 2000 control (programmed to memory locations 1 and 3 respectively)
However my old Tascam US-428 is feeling lonely, I can map its buttons to a live set but it would be great to get it to auto-map instead. I tried the text file preferences fix but it failed miserably. It occurred to me if I could remap incoming MIDI note and CC messages from it it would be easy to set it up as another mackie emulation. Does anybody know if this is possible on an intel mac?
Thanks

Hey - let me know if you find an answer to this, I've been searching for the past few days for all sorts of workarounds... Universal Binary Midi Translators (no luck), custom maps/drivers for the US-428 (definitely no luck!), and all sorts of other crazy ideas to try and get the mappings to work. The problem is that the US-428's controls aren't programmable in the same way that the UC-33e's are... which is a pity, because it has a very similar control layout to the Mackie Control (especially when paired with the UC-33e).

if you cant reprogram the knobs buttons and just want L6 automap controls ( not mackie ) try to get the preferences file thing working. If you read the sticky in beta testing section everything is there to get you going.
