Conversion (non-religious) question

Post by dh187 » Mon Nov 27, 2006 1:36 am

Can I connect a devices ADAT output to my iMac G5 via a toslink connector without converting the ADAT to another format? Specs say the optical input on the Macs is Spdif optical. Does that mean I would have to convert ADAT optical to Spdif optical or are they the same thing or is this completely impossible. Verd.

ADAT and SPDIF are different multichannel digital formats, read the pages in the WIKIpedia for details.

I guess the question is what would I have to do to connect an adat output through a toslink connector.

As far as I know you can get a little box wich converts the optical signal to spdif...

Doesnt cost that much...
