Why not? USB is fine for a couple of channels in and out.

The only thing that would stop this from being a useful device in Live (for most people) would be lack of separate addressibility of the headphone and main analogue outs.

dumb as rocks... anybody putting usb 1.1 in new hardware is wasting their time... it's useless... why would you blatantly go backward? The Tech Lead on that project should be shot, or at least given a pink slip and banned from the industry...

To be honest I wouldn't touch ANY Digidesign gear with a bargepole. Frankly, I'm surprised you don't need to power them with coal.
In my experience, DigiDesign would happily fuck over a user to save a few pence. I'm one very unhappy customer, I can only hope other have a better experience than me.

The bandwidth is plenty for the I/O used. As for why USB1.1 parts have been around a long time. They've had hardware issues ironed out and the software stacks are reliable / proven. Also parts are cheaper.

Can you substantiate your assertion that "It's useless"? People who use digidesign kit expect proven reliability and prefer that over following current technology trends. Can you also explain in technical terms why USB2.0 would be a better design choice for the hardware?

Would you write off a mixing desk on the basis that the op-amp they're using is of an older design rather than a newer one despite the fact it gives a clean sound and a great s/n ratio?

Xone3D is a very expensive bit of equipment that is only USB1.1. That seems to job it's meant to do well enough. Not many people complaining etc.

thinking about getting one to replace my current mbox 1st edition...

It looks to be pratically the same soundcard, just with no clip indicator LEDs and it is nice and small... much more portable looking than the original mbox. Plus buying it is an upgrade to PTle 7.X which supports multicore processors...

Now, with L6's new exporting audio feature, it would be super easy to open a bounced set from live, track for track (audio) and mix in PT.
no prevailing genre of music:

iwas thinkin this too as i have an mbox 1(with PT 7.1) i really love using PT, but when i sell my laptop and mbox to use for a new one, the debate is getting a new audio interface, cant afford to spend for anmbox 2, and i want a strip with 8 ins.

so i may have to say bon voyage to PT unless i buy an maudio firewire 1814(and get m-powered) problem is i wont be able to power all but 2 mics, cuz there is only 2 preamps, (but 8 ins-unless theres a way to bypass this)

Plenty of people do bitch about the TI's USB1.1 interface, but it is generally sufficient to do realtime audio IMO. The problem is that with the advent of (expensive) firewire hardware, people's expectations have been increased.

At the risk of asking the obvious, why don't you just keep the Mbox rather than selling it with the machine? If you do sell it though, ffs don't sell it with the machine. You'll always get more back if you sell them seperately...
