Always - bundle stuff together and it always gets less money. The inverse is true too. I'm selling my old MDD G4 soon - I'm goanna sell the KB & Mouse individually as you get plenty more that way.

As for 7 - it's the hardware thats important. The buyer can get PT7 in a similar way to how you did if its an issue...

worth it for $150 ?

My lil bro is looking at getting it, I think I could sell him mine at 1/2 the price of the new mini. Is it worth $150 out of pocket for a more portable mbox, plus pro tools 7 and some new included plugs? I think so, if he is down, I am going to sell him mine and get the mini.

from what im told, the mbox mini doesnt have the same preamps(obviously as its much much cheaper) thing that sucks it only has one xlr input.

is the mbox 1 $150 new?

I don't know where to get the mbox 1 new, but I doubt it's $150. I just thought that would be a reasonable price to sell to my bro.

One pre? That is kinda shitty, I may have to second think this...

this is according to one of the many audio nerd (as we all strive to be) supervisors at school told me.

i'm just thinking, i don't really need to fck with protools outside of people wanting little protools sessions and i always transfer stuff to a friends rig, I thought this was a nice way to get it when i need it but I really hate buying crapy gear even when I can get it for a good price. It might be easier than I think though as in there's no cheaper way into it.

will ponder more. I wish to high heaven that the motu ultralite ran protools cause I need one of those.

Thanks for the Slicer Abe.

Yeah, this is making me reconsider my mbox mini idea. Why should I downgrade my hardware to upgrade my software, right?

It could be a good way to get into Pro Tools. I used to use Pro Tools Free on OS9, but now that's not possible, I'd consider it if I wanted to use Pro Tools again. The M powered version is a no go for me, as every one I know who has that has weird crashes all the time. A dodgy re hashed version for poo hardware IMO. That minibox thing will never make your working methods similar to a proper Pro Tools studio though.

For someone like me who doesn't use outboard gear the mini is cool

I don't record anything except vinyl so even on a 1.1 usb this looks ok

It'd be nice to have pro-tools again but you really need the plugs to go along with it - boune your LIVE 6 sessions down individually and import into Pro-Tools for some mixdown, but really you can mixdown out of Live just as easy

anywayz

the mini's cool - I'm actually considering

Sure - Pevs gear trading tip #2 then : Don't assume how much you will or won't get for kit. Find out. My two first ports of call are Sound on Sound's small ads (or whatever your local equivalent is) and ebay's completed item search. They both show me around 140 - 220 quid for MBox 1's depending on whether they have the factory bundle or not. (and most have PT6.x)

So, in Monopoly^WAmerican money that's probably 210 - 300 USD? But hey, do your own research along the same lines...

hey but i appreciate it tho....

see im tryin to get a cheap(even if the sound isnt crisp, as i mangle sound)
audio interface (less than 500)
with 8 ins and more than 2 outs.

i kno the firewire1814 is similar to what i want, but then i still need the 8 mic pres(maybe run it thru my analog mixer and do direct out connections into the firewire1814.)
