I did, however, just go look at the "process" section of the monome website:
http://monome.org/index.php?m=process
Machinate, thanks for pointing that out. It's really interesting to see how something like this actually gets built.
Also, I noticed in the forums at the monome website that people are already talking about modding it for velocity sensitivity. The creators seem to think it's entirely possible and will be releasing documentation shortly so that people can give it a try.
Such a great way to build a community around a piece of equipment... you can't help but be impressed by what they are accomplishing.

So padKontrol's pads are different than microKontrol's? I figured they would be the same not only because they're both made by Korg but also because both microkontrol and padkontrol's pads only have velocity sensitivity whereas both MPD24/16 and Triggerfinger have velocity AND pressure sensitivity.rikhyray wrote:I am surprised how good the Korg`s pads are [...] As comparison Korgs microKontrol pads are the most useless thing Korg ever made
The Padkontrol pads are probably the best for those who really want to play, they are expressive and fun to play.noborders wrote:So padKontrol's pads are different than microKontrol's? I would love to simplify my live setup- replace some hardware with MPC 1000 but probably will keep the Korg since 1000 have lousiest pads of all Akais ( and unreliable) and even the best Akais are no match ( stopped using them once I got Korg). It might be different for other people though.
Aftertouch would be nice ( for example to bend the bass of tabla) but I use the touch pad a lot. The roll is just fantastic for timbales or any breaks.

but it seems like hes really not triggering anything in his program excpet when he does bit control...id like to see screen shots of his sequencin with it so i can see whats goin on
I just got the padkontrol and yes, the pads on this are way different from the ones on microkontrol. The microkontrol pads are more like push buttons. The padkontrol pads are made for banging on them. And compared to the pads on akai mpc2000, the padkontrol pads seem more sensitive and feel more durable.noborders wrote:So padkontrol's pads are different than microKontrol's?
The padKONTROL not having "aftertouch" is really not a big deal since you can program the X/Y pad to do anything you want you can use IT as your "aftertouch." If you want pitch bend or filter changes just run your finger across the X/Y pad. My guess is that you can accomplish anything you could with aftertouch using the X/Y pad.
To second previous posts, the padKONTROL pads are really great. I've not used any Akai products but I can say that I'm very happy with the responsiveness, durability and expressiveness of the padKONTROL pads themselves. Really nice unit.

check out chipPad for iPad @ http://earsmack.com
No, you absolutely CANT do all the things with the XY. Each pad in the TriggerFinger can send out its own unique controller signals, so you can control 4 faders, 8 knobs and 16(1) different pressure-sensitive pads all sending out different messages.earsmack wrote:The padKONTROL not having "aftertouch" is really not a big deal since you can program the X/Y pad to do anything you want you can use IT as your "aftertouch." The unique thing about the pads is that the pressure works much like faders - you can turn up three, at different rates, while turning down two, all at the same time.
- this is, by the way, the reason why I still have one, as well as the PadKontrol.
mbp 2.66, osx 10.6.8, 8GB ram.
hi folks,
question about the mpd24 and the endles knobs:
do they send relative cc-messages?
i've downloaded the manual http://www.akaipro.com/documents/MPD24/MPD24.zip, which is not clear in this point.
thx in advance
