HI,
I have a Presonus Firebox...but I use a pc laptop without a firewire port, so use a PCMCIA card... it's a cheap, non-branded job, and I get a few pops and clicks...
The Presonus website says that the Firebox is not compatible withe NEC chipped PCMCIA cards...
Can ANYONE recommend a PCMCIA card that doesn't use the NEC chip, available to the uk?
Cheers,
J

PCMCIA card recommendations: NON NEC chip...
PC Laptop & Intel Macbook, Presonus Firebox, Echo Indigo DJ, MPC 2500, Planet Phatt, Xiosynth, microX, Kontrol 49, Live 6, Reason 4, Guru, ASS Modeling Collection, Pro53, Oddity, Fender Telecaster, an old acoustic guitar, Some mics, my sister's voice...
Ok I checked,
I'm using an Adaptec Fireconnect AFW-1430A
I tried a couple other ones and this is by far the most stable for me.
And to the PP No it does not power the motu. You still need external power unless you also plug the FW card into an adapter.

I use an Echo Indigo DJ on my travels...it really is a great option,...and they periodically update drivers etc... so full marks to them!
I took a chance and bought a Belkin Firewire Notebook Adapter from PC World this morning...They weren't able to tell me if it had the TI chipset or not, but I have discovered that it has, and all my audio problems seem resolved. I can't find a product number, but PC World only stock this version. It cost £39.99...though I'm sure it would be cheaper from the web.
Thanks for your responses.
