Presenting Live turntable application.

Post by djazz » Wed Nov 29, 2006 8:09 am

Im developing a simple application that would allow you to control ableton lives tempo just like a turntable using any midi controler.

Its under development and I will appreciate any beta testing and feed back.

Next step is to model pitch bents from real turntables to give a better feel for beat matching.

At the moment it operates on +-8% pitch

---
Download from

www.djazz.co.uk/live_turntable_a0.1.zip (MAC ONLY)

its writen on MAX/MSP

---
How it works.

Open your sequencer and the Live turntable (L.T.) application.
Select your midi input from the drop down menu of L.T.
Click on Learn at the L.T. and move the fader from your controller that you would like to control the pitch.
(option) Select any other pitch range from the pitch range buttons of L.T.
Choose your desired CC out and mini chanell out
Map the CC output to your sequencers tempo.

Please note that: Its free and will remain free for all of us to enjoy.

Sure, get involved on the development if you like.

Register on my forum, I put it there and added some notes you will need.

Pitch bend should be REALLY easy. You would just have to map a single midi button to + and one to -, and have the midi note on (to increase the tempo) send one CC and midi note off send a diiferent one (to take it back to the original tempo).

Pitch bend will be much better than that mate

Ill model the way a turntable works for a better feel when you are beat matchin.

when im saying pitch bent I mean "put your finger on the vinyl" and make it a bit faster or slower.

Next week i believe Ill have a first version for this.

The application is mac only.

what error do you get ?

later on ill try it on a different mac and see if
you might need to install max/msp runtime

its free, download it from here and tell me if it works

Sorry for all the problems but its really under development.

I bet it's that you need Max runtime. I see a Max icon on the file.
