From what I gather, the DJ controller was much farther away from production.
This controller is pretty cool (except for the price

...and name

), but it is a controller that in no way uses mackie control or automappning.
Think I will wait to see what Faderfox will offer....

Price is fine with me, it's nice durable aluminum, not crappy plastic. Quality encoders and joystick too it looks like, well worth it

I don't see the issue since you can specify automapping for ANY midi controller in Live.

One must also remember that it does a little bit more than what what is seen from the outside. When you push an encoder, the whole control changes midi channel. This means that you can use it as a "channel strip" controller to eg control 8 complete tracks + master.

Yes, but you can hardly combine that with the "channel strip" idea in an intuitive way. Or perhaps you can?

Not yet, other than there's meant to an announcement before the holidays.
I'm waiting until NAMM until I make any decisions on new kit. You'd be mad not to.

Use 1 midi channel for auto mapping, and the other 8 channels mapped to 8 strips in Live?

It's meant to be silver and the width of a 12"powerbook. Neat if you have a powerbook.
