Seems like an idea, but how do you select which channel should be automapped?

Imagine instead that you could use buttons (or an encoder) to step between tracks (mackie) and have the controller automatically mapped to volume/sends/pan in one mode and automapped to an effect rack in another mode.

Still seems like trying to pigeon hole this one to me. I see this as more of a live performance tool, versus a studio controller (though obviously it can do that too). Obviously 9 knobs and buttons will never match the flexibility of a Mackie Control or similar.

I was thinking in performance terms too. I just soo much want a controller that doesn't tie me too har to a specific template.

As for price comparision, this bad boy only costs GBP 50 more:

wow

i got 16 on a doepfer pocket control for less than 100 € (ok, no usb) it seem to me waaay to much overpriced.
I was expecting no more than £150.
I think to sell that well, it will need to be a 2 figure sum - ie £99

would really be nice if you could use the killamix as a step sequencer.

Way overpriced....

Basically over 2x the price of a BCR for 1/4 of the functions.

I understand quality, but that price ratio is a bit high unless this is just suggest ed price?

Nah, not for that much. Too bad... I was really paying attention to the posts leading up to the release of this controller. I often checked Kenton's site for updates, etc. $320 or so just aint happening. Sure looks pretty though. Maybe if a US distributer jumps on Kenton the price would drop some. Doubtful that will happen...

Whoops!

I miscalculated and the correct total for this controller (WITH the "special" pricing for the next week) is (drumroll...)

$371.00!!!!

You can get a Bitstrem 3X for that!

After Dec. 6th this thing is well over $425...

Too bad. I wouldn't pay a cent over $200...

They need to do what the Bitstream people did and outsource the manufacture and distribution to the big boys (the bitsream's probably now built in taiwan hence themassively reduced price on what it used to be).

There's been a lot of complaints on the bitstream quality as a result too. :(

has anyone here ever owned or used a kenton controller ?

at least half, if not more, of the money you spend goes towards the build. They make controllers designed to be used hard in live performance situations. how many people actually need that level of build quality ?

if your controller is never going to leave the studio, well buying a kenton will obviously be too expensive when you compare it to the likes of a bcr2000 which beats it in terms of price & function

killamix is a nice controller, if you're going to be performing hard with it.
in terms of build quality, you definatly get what you pay for with Kenton.

waste of money for studio use tho. you could get two bcr2000's for that kind of cash.
