no personal experience, but a friend of mine has one, and he says it`s good.
No ASIO possibilities as far as I`ve been informed though.

and if it helps.. it looks great to he said.. but we don`t judge audio hardware
stuff by its looks do we :)

I think with Blue stuff you pay for the looks a little, too.

yeah man, it looks like a toy or for aspiring home voice-over artists.

mind you ive had good results of an Mbox getting its power from USB, but I don't know if the blue guys would have a decent enough preamp for my liking.

I've actually seen quite a few good reviews on it.

I saw one thread somewhere once where someone was saying it wasn't so good, and hyping up something else (seemed like a sales dude), and then tons of people chimed in saying they disagreed, and how good it was.

Do a google search. Comparing to other mics in its price range, seems like it might be decent. Never heard it personally though.

i was testing one and it fell backwards on its little tripod and knocked the little switch clean into the mic cavity. they claim this is the only time this has ever happened though i think its a design flaw.
to be honest, i never used it and it isn't even mine so i know nothing about how it sounds (except for the switch rattling in the mic...). but i would probably not buy one for this reason alone.

however to blues credit, they were really cool about it and they agreed to replace it.

podcasting would be my guess. i think sound on sound reviewed it, and a couple of other USB condenser mics - i don't have a link though. do a search of their site.

I Have the Snowball and have to say you won't find a better USB mic. Of course its got a great design, but I found 150 US to be quite reasonable...Anyone that is complaining about it is probably not going to use it in an acoustically treated environment where you would really notice the difference...I suppose in later generations maybe, but for now its a great piece of gear with a personality of its own...

Its great for adding live percussion bits and all sorts of creative possibilities....
that being said, a popscreen and the shockmount are a necessity if you are going to record seriously with it...

Be careful with the shockmount, bad design. Its not going to break, but the nut loosens and can easily pinch your fingers seriously( got a deep gash on my index finger)...

Cheers
