On ANY output, be it the CUE, a TRACK, MASTER, a SEND, anywhere, select your headphone output from the output drop down box. It the output doesn't appear there, select the 'configure...' option, that takes you to the dialog box to enable the outputs on your sound card.

As for your controllers:
So, get you DJ flow down using a mouse and the computer keyboard.
Hit the midi learn button and look at what changes color.
Assign buttons and knobs and whatnots on your controllers to the places you clicked to play tunes.

You DO have to practice your set and starting out you can't expect to to EVERYTHING without touching the mouse/keyboard, but you'll get better at it as you practice. I say this beacuse peoples' next question after this one is 'why cant I do xxx, man... that sucks.' If you want to do more creative routing get MIDI YOKE (PC, on a mac use the IAC) and BOMES midi translator to convert midi into keystrokes.

Before you play out, play the hell out of your set, abuse it, tweak it hard, give it a rough road test.

As you learn Live, keep the HELP box open ALL THE TIME and read what it says. The manual is pretty quick to read, open the .pdf and do a search.

Also, read the sticky in the tips and tricks forum for more answers, definitely look up DUMMY CLIPS in that sticky, there's a demo .als on them, they will blow up your DJ set HUGE.
