Just trying to get a workflow going in Live 6. Have owned it since version 3, but always found there was something that missing that kept me from actually using it in a workflow. Live6 however, is quite a magnificent piece of software that I'm adopoting as my primary daw.
Just having a tiny little bit of trouble getting a workflow to that works withough requiring a new maching. Specifically, I can't afford endless instantiations of Kontakt 2 (which is huge before you load any samples even).
So I'm routing midi from different Midi tracks (strings, drums etc) to a single track with an instantiation of Kontakt via different channels. So far so good.
However, I'm getting a huge latency that seems to appear only when I route the midi. I get maybe half a second latency - so almost there, and yet this latency is quite unworkable.
When I monitor from the track in whcih kontakt is instantiated, there's no latency issues. Whichi seems to rule out the latency coming from either my midi keyboards or kontakt itself. So it seem to be latency just from the act of routing midi from one track to another, which doesn't see right. Anyone else encountered this/ know of a way around this?
Another issues is with this flow is that the routings mean you use the freeze functino effectively. Woudl be interested to hear if anyone has a way around this?
Also finding it Live quite unstable on XP. (using mostly Absynth and Kontakt, with an Axoim & a prokeys88 and an Audiophile USB, 1.5Ghz, 750M ram) Does this sound par for the couse? Actually I've not had such such frequent and severe crashes since the days of windows 95.
Still quite a magnificent piece of software. Really hoping someone might have some suggestsion.
