That way I could get most of the components id need for like £140 plus it would interface and be powere from USB.

What do you think?
I thnk the UC33 will be on a printed circuit board, so it wont be so easy to change the faders and knobs - unless you leave them exactly where they are and just re house the board.

I was going to do this with a Doepfer pocket fader - but its just 1 board with 16 faders on it.

I have 2 x lv1, 1 either side of my laptop and i am dead comfy with this setup.

just too big for a turntable lid, so one usually gets parked over the channel fader on the dj mixer.

but - No change for me in the near future
mmm, thats the only problem I can see and thats where my electronics knowledge runs dry...BUT

In theory, if you wanted that kinda setup/layout, but just more refined in terms of quality, I reckon it could work. :?

I remember Adam Jay did a respray of his UC33e, and remember reading about replacing casing and knobs in the same thread, but I can't find the link!
isnt the uc33a bit big and chunky?

i dont personally like it, not when compared with faderfox.

Well when i got the specs compare sheet up i decided that the only option considerable was the MacBook Pro 2.33ghz 15".

I cant wait to load in live a few reaktor 5 instances and give it a good testout.

The good thing about my PC and the only downside to the mac is the screen rez on my pc is 1400x 1050, but the MBP is 1440 x 900, so i will loose 10% of the screen depth which = 2 scenes in live.

True, but any controller would be as bulky if not more so than the UC33e. The only thing im not keen about with the faderfox's is that I like to have all my sliders, knobs + buttons for each channel right in front of me, rather than having to scroll through.

i like the kenton one, perfect for djing in conjunction with the trigger finger, its not that pricey really, its just a bespoke product, £200 aint that bad, i dont want a big thing like the bit stream as for djing i dont need loads of channels, for me the trigger finger & this new kenton should be great, tf for triggering clips and getting creative, kenton joystick & buttons to replace the 4 buttons i use on the tf to navigate live without the mouse. also with use 2 controllers i may not need to take both. for the same money you could go for a remote zero i suppose, but its lay out is even worse, more studio orientated, and this auto map aint all its cracked up to be imho

i was looking to make my own also but it would be crappy, not usb powered, be bulky and badly made, the trigger finger is very robust and the kenton even more so by the sound of it, only thing that lets the tf down is its faders/pots, but then what do you expect for what it costs!!! you get what you pay for. the cme/behringer stuff is all well n good at home/in studio, not so good to gig with, i want my dj rig to have only 1 power plug (right now its an imac/focusrite saffire/trigger finger) but also to be compact. i want imac over laptop as it needs a smaller footprint/its far more powerful and its screen is great (i hate laptops little/crap screen)

Good point dude. Im currently runnin a trigger finger + x-session on a powerbook. The cost and production ball ache is kinda dauntin, so I'm gonna hold my designs back until after Namm, see what that brings...

Don'y get me wrong, the killamix is cool, I suppose its just entirely dependent on what set-up your runnin.

Damn, I just clicked over to buy one, but even at the "special pre-order price" it will cost nearly 400 bucks to get one to the US. That's just a little much for some rotary encoders.

Honestly, I wish there were more competition in the ultra-compact format. What's the point of these sleek new laptops if your control surface is a beast anyway?
