Damn, sounds too bad. I didnt even bother to do it as yet. Except I never liked Live synced to anything except rewired. Regarding other softwares they are all great, yet bit different, Definitely Protools dominance is US mainly, Nuendo takes over lots of production houses in Europe.
I almost finished my MPC tune, very interesting, such different workflow. I "like" the 32 voice limit, didnt even know that such units are still manufactured in 2006 This is really prehistorical !. However I like it for forcing me to simplicity and clarity.
I will just record it to Live via digital out, Regarding sync, PCMCIA RME was way better then anything else ( got rid of it since didnt work with my new system) with Live or other soft, every componet adds to midi chaos.
I want something else, anything, I want midi dead.

well if i make live the slave it syncs perfectly. i actually like the workflow better having the mpc in charge. looks like that is the way to go. mpc master - live slave

edit: scratch that, since writing this it went off syn on its own. it was stopped and started a few times no problem, then it was a wacked again, adjust the midi clock delay in live again by 50 more ms and it is back. very fucked. i am so pissed right now i could kick the abes squaw in the nuts

Did record my new MPC made song, rather long 10 minutes, into Live, synced ...... totally off. Didnt have time, had to leave right after that only looked at the the markers and oh dear, way, way off. Will check it tomorrow with some more attention Was experiment I anyway. In real live i would rather record the parts separately but as experiment showed better option would be to finish it of via resampling in MPC:
I am not too surprised with the result.

Same results with Live 5.2, haven't downloaded the new Live 6 update. Seems OK with the mpc as master, clock type as midi clock, no mmc on either end. Under some setttings Live goes to twice the MPC's bpm and locks OK there.

Next thing I want to try is using a 3rd device to slave the mpc and Live.

Bummer.

D DAS - same setting here, set the midi clock delay to -50mS and they're pretty much in sync, even after bumping the bpm on the mpc from 85 to 115 to 65 to 85, it syncs as well as it does in a Live to midi to Live sync setup.

I'd put this on the Abes to tighten up, I don't have any other DAWs loaded on my laptop (I guess I could dust off Sonar, but why?). I think I've got it working, a few hours of jamming will tell, I'll let you know.

I'm syncing the mpc via an SL25, audio into my Edirol UA101 break out sound card, audio into the Edirol, into an audio track in Live. I played with the SL as clock master but it wouldn't work, maybe with more time but now it's time to play.

Just bought my mpc this weekend. Liking it a lot so far, still learning the basics though. It's so great not to have to worry about computer hassles when making music. I feel my juices flowing again. Takes me back to when i first started out.
I hope by the time i get to syncing it up with Live you guys have a rock solid solution for me.

What you don't get pop up's on your MPC when you're in the middle of making jams ;)

But do be warned they do crash from time to time so save and save often

not such a big deal in the studio but at the club you don't want that to happen

The mpc gives me pop ups but they ony mean I have to move the mpc further down my lap until the swelling goes down.

I played sync'ed up for hours last night, midi clock from the mpc into Live with EXT on, -50mS clock delay, clock set to midi, mmc, mtc and other modes turned off, 1 midi cable, simple setup. bpm changes, starts, stops, all that. It's too cool to mix up my own beats under my Live sets. Whoops, another pop up!

Definitely the FIRST thing to learn is how to save, just make a quick dumb beat and learn to save it internally, on the flash, transfer to computer, delete the flash and go back again. I've lost 3 really good beats to the ether from screwing up a save/load.

More flash should arrive today, then I'll get a hard drive on the way home.

if what you want is to save a wav file from your project - then resample the song you are making. record the main audio outs through the audio in on the mpc (that option is under record mode, choose that instead of digital or analog) record your loop save it then pull it off the flash card and drop it in live. and that way you get a nice unaltered wav file.

Resampling is such a dope feature which you couldn't do till a couople years ago

old school style - plug the outs into the in's -
