I cannot believe my desktop is so close to my dual core. I don't think there is enough VST plugin's in this old v5 test to really stretch the ability of the dual core CPU's. Tho' the Core 2 Duo's are scoring incredibly low... Hats off Intel!!

LIVE 6 Demo: CPU 10-11%-Beefy!
Man I need some cash to get it!
Any generous sponsors?
Now I can feel comfortable flopping it out on the table!
anyway, the test seems a bit lacking for 6. I am just happy i have a pc i won't have to upgrade for ages. It goes above and beyond the call of duty for my needs. Also nice that i can just use it as a normal computer for downloading etc as well and not have to disable everything so it doesn't choke. And I'll never have to have the windows' Classic' look.I imagine the G5 single core imac i had would have gone about 60%- far more stable, macs, though; and much prettier to work with.
I paid less for this setup than what i sold the mac for. many teething problems though, many hours trying to get it set up right and resisting the urge to hoik it out the window! Seems fine now but still has some quirks. Now i hope to just enjoy making tunes. And spend more time with the family etc.....
1) Ableton Live CPU Meter 16-19% by the way, this is on LIVE 5.2
2) Desktop: PC Motherbord- Gigabyte 965-s3
3) OS - Windows XP Home SP2
4) CPU: Intel E6600 Core2 Duo 2 x 2.4 ghz
5) RAM: 2 GB DDR2 ram G-Skill 800mhz
6) Soundcard : M-Audio Firewire Solo
7) Hard Disk Drive Speed: 7200rpm 250gb SATA
I didn't disable my net connection or or anti virus etc.
I have installed ms hotfix for dualcore.
It's plenty good enough for me, i haven't got it to go past 30% in anything yet. I usually run 64 sample latency.

with built in soundcard meter is 18-19%
that to me is very significant. at low latency the difference is even more drastic. when will apple loose that old kernel?
I need info about % of using proc. at MacBook Pro c2d processor in two OS, Mac OS X and Windows XP. Thats why i ask him. Someone have this info ? One computer, and two different OS.veggieryan wrote: looks like windows xp is faster than osx by 5-10%... and vista is even faster by an additional 5-10%

By the way, who knows, with what latency works internal audio card in MacBook Pro. In windows and in Mac os X
Thanks for any help !
