midi automation parameters not detected
midi automation parameters not detected
how come live doesn't detect some midi automation parameters in several vst-plugins. it shows only the first 127 parameters(these may even be empty), but the ones i want to set to an external controller are not listed. they are however available in cubase for instance but not in live. is there a possibility of skippig those empty slots? how can i get to the parameters i would like to control?

it is a known problem in live - it cant handle more than 127 (i thought it was 128) parameters... something to do with the way it is coded... i know it's a pain in the ass!
plenty of ppl in the same situation as u regarding this issue, and as of yet, i have not seen any message from ableton on whether they intend to address this issue.

yea, wish, they'd do something about that. can't be all that difficult. i think live doesn't take nprn and sometimes these parameters are listed behind the cc par. and if these are somewhat empty, you don't get to the stuff you want.
well thanks so far,

when purchasing plug-ins, it is good to look for ones that have their own midi learn.
It is ridiculous that you could have a synth and not be able to control filter cutoff cause it happens not to fall in the 128
Also, some plug-in developers have put the most common parameters so that Live sees them first. SO check when you get a plug-in if it either has the parameters you would normally use, or its own midi learn. I would not wait and expect that Ableton is going to change this anytime soon. This problem has been there for a long time.

midi learn is for now the only way of "tricking" live, i've seen that, but it does'n t seem to work for quite a few plugs i've tested, so there we are back in the spot trying to use live's control mechanism...
