limitations of demo version
limitations of demo version
Hi all
I've ordered a copy of Ableton but it's taking a while to be shipped
so, in the interim, I need to start recording my vinyl
(I'm using it to DJ & have a set next Friday night)
does the demo version allow you to save recordings?
also, if I beat map sound files, will this info be kept?
cheers
Sam

best you can do is record the audio into another application or hardware.
if you ordered it and have a serial number you can download it from the Ableton site, enter in your serial number and work with the full version in no time.

yeah I asked the outlet for the serial number this morning
still waiting for a response
don't s'pose you guys can recommend a free recording app for Mac?
tried Cubase LE that came with my card. No good with Intel Duo chips
tried Audacity. No good with Firewire
Garage Band only does 16 bit (I want 24)
found this thing called AudioX but it's for PPC only
in fact this Intel chipset is a real pain in terms of getting compatible software. If anyone can recommend me something it'd be much appreciated

Well, as a recent convert with a MacBook, I'm certainly finding the same thing. The variety of software for Mac will never equal that of Windows....and the move to Universal Binaries is a bit slow.sam i am wrote: in fact this Intel chipset is a real pain in terms of getting compatible software. Other than dishing out major bucks for something like Digital Performer or Logic, I haven't found anything cheap and compatible.
If you have Live Lite, you can install that in the sort term. So many different companies include it with gear, you likely already have an older version laying around somewhere.
The other option may be to use Boot Camp and install WinXP. At one time, I had it installed, and seemed to work well. But I didn't specifically try audio recording apps with it.

No, I think that's called a crack.sam i am wrote:...does the demo version allow you to save recordings?

thought the demo might let me record, but not save / export arrangements...
I found something on another forum about it not liking Firewire too
no biggy - I've found a trial version of Boom Recorder that's doing the job
