Motu 828mk2 weirdness...

Post by onehandstand » Tue Dec 05, 2006 3:56 pm

Hey!

I am using motu828mk2 (macbookpro/XP/Live6). I tried to hook up a mic but there is no sound. This is happening with just first two channels, channels 3-8 works fine.

Have anyone experienced this kind of problem?

Cheers,
Kirill

Do you have the monitor levels up in the display Gain page of the 828, if not then no sound'll come thru. (you could monitor thru Live Tho)
Hope this helps.

I could be wrong but don't the front inputs show up as input 9 and 10 on the 828 not 1 and 2? Try them.

Nope, all the levels are down on the motu display, but it doesnt seem to effect anything. All works fine except two channels with mic preamps.
If I startup in OSX the problem disappears. I am really confused... could it be the driver for xp? I have asio and motu audio asio selected in lives preferences panel.

Nah, the xp drivers are solid, my mic works great thru the mkii.

can you see the input lights going when you say something into the mic?

Obvious question, but do you have the audio inputs enabled in the Audio IO setup preferences? Try ignoring live and monitoring via CueMix and see if you can monitor the Mic input. Also, try using and XLR->Jack plug the same cable into a jack input and boosting it to check the cables working etc...
