I'm running OS 2.10 now. Do you think it would load up wiht the JJ os? I rather pay the 30 instead of dealing with this HD sh*t.
Not sure. But The other benefits of the new OS are worth it. Seriously.

But you can try it for free, and get the full OS later.

Sounds like its the HD to me though.

Good idea.

I assumed that it was set to 'cable select' = automatic selection.

it be any worse than what you got.

i also sync mpc1k (jj os) as master to live 6.
works good, but my prob is, that live needs a few sec to sync it well every time i stop the mpc. i make beats on mpc while a melody runs on live, and its very frustrating that live always runs out of sync.

btw: next question:

:?: i make my beats in double time resolution (80 bmp 1 bar = 160 bpm 2 bar).
when i sync it to live, live syncs of course the double time resolution.
is there a way to make a half time resolution out of that ??????

I own mackiesmixers since 12 years-, had a CR1604 VLZ, now I have a 24.8 and I'm very happy with mackie quality.
It just sounds good to my ears.
I see your point about not having faders, which are way better when it comes to visual feedback but I don't want to spend too much money on a secondary mixer, faders would be better for me too but whatever.
I don't know about effects, I am always been skeptical about built-in effects but maybe from mackie we can wait some good effects.
I had one of the first 12s ever made- remember how top audio guys didnt believe what i paid for it , know people who used it even for mobile recording of classical music, and lots of top keyboardists using them till today. The advantage is that they are really compact and light, no fader means no dust getting inside.
I would like to find US made 14 or 12 (since now you put me on that idea), anyone knows which year, model they shifted to Asia ? I dont care to save few bucks but the quality.

rikhyray (I always have to check the spelling of your name as I always fear to write it wrong but... kia ka rega -is it right?-)
I don't know the year they moved the production to china.
Of course they say it's the same but no one here was born yesterday, i don't believe that the quality is the same.
Got to do a research now.
I'll let you know asap, or if you should find some info please post them here.

kya bat he! Spelling my name , damn I know people ( well 99% females) who cant spell it ever even after knowing me many years- maybe they would like me to be Ricky Martin. Even in India it is rare name only in Punjab and my homestate of Orissa- the Sanskrit sh we write/pronouce as kh So my name in most of Indian languages is Rishi.
Regarding Mackie all music shop guys say there is difference> more repairs, returns, problems, noise you name it.

kya ka rega (spelling??) is the only thing I know in this language. It should mean something like "what do you want to do?", is it right?
MInd you I'm not even sure if it's hindustani or hindy...
What's the meaning of kya bat he?
Thanks for teaching me something new.

NOISE: if I want noise I pick up a behringer, damn, mackie has let me down. I dwnld the manual of the 1202 and on the mixer they say "designed by mackoids in usa" but no mention about production, which is likely to be in china.
SO, it seems like we have to seek an old, US-made mackie haven't we.

I've seen the same thing and could not find a way around it.

I lave the mpc to Live, midi clock, no mmc, mtc, simple setup. Clock drifts and whatnot but for putting mpc beats behind my mashup set it's been fine. I haven't done any recording back and forth, nothing intense, just playing along.

#@$%^& I ordered my RAM last week from Texas in an Ebay auction, Nebulae - I might need a Texas lawyer, or at least a gunman if I don't get my RAM today or tomorrow!!!

that's lame. I ordered mine from a guy in Jersey and got it in three days.

did you know that the ram they sell with the akai name on it has all the ram cubes on one side? The MPC only reads one side of a memory chip. I ordered one from ebay that was kingston 128mb for the MPC, but because it only reads half the chip I am actually only getting 12 minutes of recording time instead of 24 minutes. So if you are buying 3rd party ram you need to get the 256mb 144pin type instead of the 128mb 144pin. If you get the 256mp stick that has the chips on both sides only one side will be used by the MPC giving you the full 24 minutes recording time. Lame. I need to buy another stick.

just a heads up

d~

Dont worry even made wherever in Asia , still better then other stuff, just not THAT good as it used to be. Some stuff it is that way, specially music related, rather amazing that even Japanese with all the high tech were never able to make a gutar pickup half as good as US designed and made ones ( all the top models of Ibanez or Yamaha feature US made pickups)
I will definitely look for the real old school Mackie

There is a difference between the prices of the new Mackie made in China and the old versions made in USA.

price = quality

in most cases.

Go the oldschool mackie.
