New Tune - Maximum Factor - Dark Electro

Post by footslider G » Thu Dec 07, 2006 9:18 am

Hi Y'all!

After much trouble getting this loaded up onto myspace I am pleased to announce my new tune for your listening pleasure.(link is by my signature)

It is all written on LIVE with a few plug-ins and thats it.

"Maximum Factor" is pretty dark according to one of my mates. Starts off with not much going on but then goes into lush sounds and layering with some funky synths thrown in to boot.

I really hope you like it as I love it!

I look forward to your feedback as it always helps me know whether I am going right or wrong.
Cheers

I'm glad to hear this and also to see your list of influences including UR since I have a feeling that I'd dig listening to that other stuff. I dig the crazy rimshot. Are all the samples native to Live or are some outsourced? I definitely hear the darkness you're referring to (or at least that your friend's referring to). The one thing that I noticed is that the movement isn't as fluid as I had hoped it would have panned out. It sort of reminds me more of the minimal stuff as of late (like Claro Intelecto) than it does of UR. I actually love the loop it starts out with more than anything else. Keep up the good work.

Hey Sonar,

Praise indeed. Many thanks.

Funny you should mention Intelecto as I have listened to a lot of that stuff of late so maybe I have trained my brain

When you talk about movement I am really interested to know exactly what you mean. Can you elaborate a bit more. I must admit I'm a bit of novice when it comes to the use of swing in a track and I probably don't use panning enough. Any tips on where/how to use these to great effect?

I only use vst synths and drums which I have picked up along the way.

Once again many thanks for taking the time to listen and give me feedback.
Cheers

when I said "panned out", I was employing an idiom to talk about the song structure as it moves from beginning to end. That is, it didn't seem to follow a deliberate enough path for me to go with, if that makes sense. Seriously though, it doesn't set the song back at all. Maybe I was trying to give off the impression that I'm not that easily pleased and overcompensated.

Hi Sonar,

I see what you mean.

Structure is important and I think I get what you mean.

When writing tracks I have time constraints due to work so tend to work on them a bit at a time. Sometimes they can take me just a few hours to make, other times a month, but the workflow is never steady.

This is good in some ways as I come back to the track each time with new ears but in terms of fine tuning a track it makes life difficult.

I must say though, I am very pleased with this even as it stands. :D

I'll check your myspace page out
Cheers
