Live 6.0.2 Beta 8: Dissappearing clips (FALSE ALARM! SORRY!)

Post by fzero » Thu Dec 07, 2006 11:50 am

UPDATE: I've just discovered it was my fault. Sorry!

I did this several times yesterday, so we can call this reproductible.

1. Load an mp3 in the session view

2. Make some changes... adjust the bpm matching, put some warp markers etc.

3. Drag the clip to the file pane. Live creates a project folder. Since it's inside a folder belonging to an album (say, G:\MP3\Leftfield - Rhythm and Stealth), I rename it "Live Clips". So now I have a "G:\MP3\Leftfield - Rhythm and Stealth\Live Clips" folder with "Phat Planet.alc" inside it.

4. Load another mp3 in the session view, create a clip, drag it into the Live Clips folder. You can do this as many times as you want. Live shows all the clips inside the project folder.

5. Exit Live.

6. Surprise! THE PROJECT FOLDER ALONG WITH ALL CLIPS IS GONE.

Needless to say, this was quite annoying. Live was showing the files, so they existed, right? I even dragged some of them back into the session to play a little before closing Live, so why are they all gone?

Houst... I mean Berlin, we have a problem!

Hi fzero,

so far we cannot reproduce it.

- Can you find this "gone" Project folder with these .alc clips in the trash?

- Before you exit Live, can you make a "Show in Explorer" of these Project folder, then exit Live and check if these this folder is still there.

Regards,
/Alex

No, the folders (I created more than one, and in different places) were really gone, unfortunately. I looked in the trashcan hoping to find them.

I'll do this when I get home later (I'm at the office right now).

Thanks for the quick reply!

Soooo, I just discovered it was my bad. It was a folder permission problem! I had copied the MP3 files from a DVD-R backup and that made the read-only bit on the folder stay as "on".

I should have checked it. Sorry for the post.

Hi fzero,

don't worry. We like "self-resolving" problems :)
Thanks for letting us know.
