i record in a loop, in the arrangement, OVR button is pushed.
so, first round, i record the notes. the loop starts over again, now LIVE erases the recently recorded notes ! (but not the ones which were there before this recording started)
loop starts again, LIVE "writes" these notes again.
he's like confusing overdub with straight recording in a very strange and inconsistent way
is it a known bug?

If you are recording in arrangement with loop mode on, Live keeps each 'take', means instance of the loop, and the clip's start and end markers are just set around the latest take. So, if OVR in ON, the recorded notes from an instance of the loop are 'copied' when the next instance is starting, and you can record notes on top of that. Maybe it is what you experience?
Look at the MIDI clip in clip details after having recorded 3 or 4 instances of a loop, you'll have the 3 or 4 takes with added notes eavh time.

but i just dont understand the logic of it.
i recorded one "take" and then on the next take (as it loops) i dont play notes for 2 rounds, just keep recording. so then i lose the last take (or not really losing it, but its being pushed backwards) . and then it pops back again ?
pity that its not possible to preview the clip while recording. that would make it much clearer. i wonder why its possible only in session view and not in arrangement.

yeah same here... overdubbing midi tracks in live is pretty foney
you could record to seperate tracks each time you wanna overdub but i dont think you can merge midi tracks... i havent tried it. I dont like to midi sequence in Live. The ultimate MIDI sequencing tool Ive worked with is Logic. Maybe the Aletonners can take a look at that?
