Post by Newecho » Sat Dec 09, 2006 12:08 am

Just curious if there is a listing of sites that sell/offer "Live Packs"?

Not Ableton downloads - third party. Let me start over. Back when the concept of "Live Packs" was introduced, I was pretty pumped because I thought it would take off like Reason Refills. I thought that third parties like Sonik Reality and the like would reformat their sounds and patches into Live Packs and make new Live Packs.

Propellerhead has a page (http://www.propellerheads.se/products/r ... =mainframe) where they link to many third parties making refills. I figure someone out there must be making "Live Packs" and was curious if there was a list somewhere. On ableton.com, I've only seen a list of their Live Packs.

After googling around a bit I've not been able to find much. I do see that http://thecovertoperators.org/ have created some patches for operator which is great. Anyone else got some pointers to even more?

Their stuff looks promising. I'd be interested to hear any reviews if someone's tried them, especially that ratpack.

Puremagnetik has a bunch of Live Packs available for an inexpensive monthly subscription. We only launched in November but we already have a ton of hi quality stuff available in Live Pack format and much much more is on the way. Lots of happy subscribers so far!

Are they for Live 5, 6 or both?

Is much of it Operator/Sampler specific? (don't have either, so not interested in patches for those..).

I'll check out the link..

All of our packs use Live 6 racks with extensive macro mappings. Most of our sample-based releases are multiformat for Sampler, Kontakt and EXS.

JUICE (our latest release) has both racks and standalone presets for Operator.

Elektrodrum has both Sampler and Impulse racks

Check out the Puremagnetik site for more info. We are trying to make these formats as compatible as possible for different user needs. Suggestions are always welcomed! :D

Hi

1) Puremagnetik - I've just subscribed, idea sounds great, I ope the sets are great too.

2) Trackteam - I've everything but the latest rackpack.

Things sound from quirky to amazing. I love some basses and leads. Everybody should find something to his taste here (although not all is for everybody, I hope I'm relatively clear).

I hope developers won't focus too much on operator and sampler as not everybody has them. There are surely a lot of things you can do with simpler, impulse and racks.

I own Operator will soon get Sampler. I was hoping for an Ableton Holiday Sale on instruments to take the sting out of the Sampler buy - but their current sales are only for upgrades and new users :( .

I agree, to increase the popularity of Live Packs and increase sales, developers need to support native and extended instruments.

just to put in a good word -- thecovertoperators "soundwrecks" package is completely worth the investment if you are looking for inspiration and surprises. they avoid operator and sampler ... instead what you get is impulse presets, simpler presets, fx-group presets, and tons of clip groups. the clip groups are clusters of audio clips with different warp, fx & automation ... often you get a glimpse into the variety of sounds you can get from just one loop ... these are pretty fun for on the fly jamming.
a side note, covops gives you some of the flavor of operator with their impulse kits. there is a group of kits soleley based on drum-sounds sampled from operator. and they're dumb-hot.

From all the replies so far, looks we are getting a nice mix of Live Packs that support both native instruments, plus some for operator and sampler. Nice.
