Live 6 / Absynth 4 automation & macro controls not worki

hey.
just upgraded to Abs.v4.01
im having no joy getting midi or automation happening when using it as a VST in live 6.

when using as standalone application (macosx) i can get my midi controller talking to it very easily. just by enabling it as an input in the preferences.

when i try to "midi learn" a macro control in the VST inside live 6 i get no feedback.

when i apply automation via the live 6 automation envelopes in the sequencer to macro controls that i have applied to things, like the filter cut off, i get no audible results..

anyone got any clues?
