with MIDI-Yoke, how can you route a MIDI track with midi mapping / cc data back into live to control its functions? I have MIDI-Yoke but can't figure out how to route the signal

MIDI mappng is now NO problem! However, I'm a bit stuck on something new. Have to delve into the manual I think, but on triggering a scene, I need to turn on the relevant rack for the channel, and turn OFF all others. Think I can sort that one out on my own though.

make a midi track that plays the note C2, now midi assign the note C2 to play a clip or a scene.

in the track with the midi clip select the track's output to MIDI YOKE port 1.

in the options-preferences-midi menu in Live set MIDI YOKE INPUT REMOTE to ON.

now play that midi clip.

is that relevant? Sorry, bit confused, I presume every time the note c2 plays the clip or scene will trigger..?

Anyhoo, I think delving into the manual hasn't helped, you can't set multiple MIDI commands to a single switch. What I tried was sending CC messages with a value under 64 to all the racks I wanted to turn off, and then 64+ messages to all the ones I wanted on, also using that message to trigger the scene, so in performance I would hit the turn em all off switch (incidentally, also the stop button on the transport bar) then trigger the scene, but you just can't seem to do that :( so any better ideas?

Basically I am going to run one big set (have to sort out my time sig issues another day - workarounds for now). Each song is set up on one scene - live vocals on track 1, live acoustic guitar on track 2, some guitars/samples/drums etc on the next 4/5 tracks. Each song will have it's own effects for each of the tracks that play during the course of the song, so, particularly for the live vocals and guitar I need to be able to turn all effects racks off, and turn one effects rack on. Turning on is no problem, it can be done with the same MIDI trigger as the scene trigger, but I can't seem to have more than one MIDI command per switch.....
Idea! (Sorry this came to me while writing - again it's a workaround, but...) I could assign a key command to stop and turn all effects off. Then I just have to have the laptop within reach and hope I don't look like a nonce....maybe get the engineer to do it off stage :) Rock'n'slightly geeky roll! Keep life simple - it's the space bar, hooray!

Yeah that crossed my mind just after I packed up tonight. Think I could set up a trigger for all racks off and stop on channel 16, then maybe I can use more than one command per switch. I'll try that tomorrow.

Well, as far as I can make out, Live CAN'T sort me out a time sig change, unless I workaround as someone suggested using a 1/4 or 1/1 time sig. That's the big one.

it's just annoying cos most of my darker glitchy sounding stuff is 6/8 or 3/4 but everything else is 4/4, and it's the those track that I'm really using Live to work magic

you know you can launch multiple instances of live 6 right?
maybe not everything has to be in one set
especially if they are all built on the same template
