hmm, so one instance for 6/8 and 3/4 and another for 4/4
are you sure I can do that on mac OSX?
Can't see how it would be done, but then I'm new to the mac as well

Not sure if you solved this, but Racks have a chain section, which can be automated. So if you pass the audio you want to be effected through an audio track with some correctly set up dummy clips you should be fine.

but i'll be using different effect setups for live audio inputs (guitar and vocals) so i don't see how that would help...?

Lord Kahn, I have been thinking about this today, and in a flash of revalation, I have figured it out how your idea helps (or at least I think so)

In each prerecorded track within a scene, the clips will hold an automated ON command for the relevant racks, right at the beginning
In each live track, there will be a clip which only holds an automated ON command for the relevant racks, again right at the beginning
So remotely launching the scene should theoretically turn on all my racks at once, n'est pas?
The remote STOP button will also be an OFF switch for all the racks, meaning that I have not only solved my little dilemma, but I have the added advantage of being able to record the live performance of each song if I stick overdub on into those blank clips, including the automation (at least of the two live tracks) Man that feels good. let's give it a go

Oh yeah, the other idea was for a sort of pseudo metronome - MIDI track that routes only to the monitor bus, and record a 3 bar sequence for the 3/4 track, 4 bar sequence for the 4/4 tracks etc, and set the time sig to 1/4 as suggested before :D This clip automation thing is harder than I thought though, bit stumped. Actually, I can do the automation, but if there's a clip in the scene on the track I want to route the live performance through (ie voca track) it doesn't seem to let me.

Argh, I hate being such a useless moron at this

FURTHER edit, just don't loop the clip :D I think with lots and lots of patient help from you lot I have solved my problems

Thank you thank you thank you

PS I think I can forget about the idea of needing to turn any rack's off. Just automate the chain editor thingummy, phew!

Just in case anyone still cares about this, I think I'm totally sorted with time sigs now. It's a crappy workaround, but the time sig only matters with regard to the metronome, so if I set quantization to 1 bar, I can record a metronome in minim triplets to output to my ear monitor for 3/4, crotchet triplets for 6/8 and straight crotchets for 4/4. The MIDI loops will take a big more legwork, and I may have to rerecord any audio loops, but if anyone else is looking for an idea to do this, this could be your soution :D
