get rid of presets

Is it a good idea to get rid of all the waveforms and instruments presets and build up your own libary of sounds.

Basically I think it is except for two reasons :

1. You may be asked to do some normal music quickly in which case presets may save time.

2. Studying how other programmers work can be educational.

However I practically never us presets.

don't mess with it, Live 6 will do that with the new file management. If you really have to, delete them all and reinstall the Live packs. You're risking not only losing songs but losing playing time to tedious computer maintenance time.

some guys get all macho about deleting presets and not using them, I don't care one way or the other, use them or don't, I take them as more fodder for the tweaking.

unless they're lame, i keep my presets to use as a point of departure, but always end up tweaking them enough that they're not recognizable.

deleting the presets can be great as an exercise in programming, but may not contribute to efficiency in your creative process

before ditching the presets, can someone send me a self-contained song that has the Impulse "Braintease" kit in it? a song I made in Live5 isn't loading properly for me, need that kit!

PM me if doable...

cheers,
joe
