asking how to warp a song is like asking how to use a kitchen. it's a very wide open topic and there are different ways to do it. This is more or less what I do. It's a topic you should read the manual and try it on your own. There's also tips in the sticky in the tips and tricks sticky.
I was serious when I said that the official way is to warp a few hundred songs then come back and ask. Warping is an odd beast, only practice can help you.
For an easy song, one done by a computer/drum machine that I KNOW FOR SURE doesn't have any tempo changes:
- turn on WARP for a clip, I use 'beats' mode.
- find the '1' of the song, move the '1' marker
- right click on the '1' and select 'warp from here straight'
- then I make a 2 bar loop and move the end so it loops smoothly.
- then I drag the loop window 30-40 measures in and see if the loop is smooth there also. if not, I move one of the warp markers (every marker in the loop will also move) until it loops smoothly.
- then I move the loop window another 30-40 measures and do the same
- when I do the whole song I go back to the begining and make sure it loops smoothly there also.
NOTE: for some songs that sound completely electronic it's still very possible that it was recorded from a DJ playing vinyl, so it's possible that there are weird tempo changes throughout. The point being that you always have to be ready for odd changes in ANY song.
For more complicated stuff, like warping old R&B, I start the same, find the '1', from there, make a 2 measure and get that to loop smoothly
- BUT before I move on to a new 2 measure section I double click on the ending loop maker to lock that 2 measure loop in place.
-- the result is that there are locked warp markers at least every 2 measures.
Oh, and when I warp I keep a good, known drum beat running in the background, I know the loop is warped when the reference drum beat just disappears into the background, the 2 parts blend.
y si, estoy un hijo de puta, pero no es mi problema, es un problema para mi padre. por lo menos no estoy un pendejo grande como mercyplease, que mierto! ojala que el nunca busca aqui otra vez.

try this http://www.ableton.com/pages/tips/2004_04
you can skip the 'crossfading' and other DJ stuff and just read the part that starts with Warping the Beat, Not Your Records...

You just gotta figure out who the a-holes are and ignore their posts...there are a lot of talented and helpful people on here but there are also some bad apples that think if you post something that has already been posted in the past three years that you deserve to be flamed (even though the search function on the forum pretty much sucks)
3.2 GHz Windows XP, Live 7, Reason 4, FL Studio 7, Stylus RMX, Sytrus, Toxic III, Novation X-Station 49, Akai MPD24, EMu XK6, Roland MC-303, Gemini BPM5000 Mixer, MBox
Really, your question is REALLY broad and hard to answer, it comes up a lot and nobody wants to type a long 'how to warp' reply over and over and over again. THE OFFICIAL way to do it is to READ THE MANUAL and try it a bunch of times. It all started as a joke, be cool about it, come back with other questions, it's all in good fun. The only asshole in the thread was the one who used all caps in his reply (what a hypocrite!) but he's always a big time asshole.Tweaking Knobs wrote:Men thanx to all of you who dont feel attacked by questions and try to help , if my questions was stupid ok , was stupid but we shouldnt disrespect no one for asking in forums , we are here to help each other not to make fun of them.
