Loops gradually slipping out of time?

Post by grum » Mon Dec 18, 2006 11:25 am

Hi,

I've got Ableton 6 running on my nice shiny new intel mac and I love it so far. I'm having a slightly weird problem though, which is that my loops are gradually, say over 32 bars or so, slpping out of time with each other. Now I assumed it was because I hadnt cut the ends of the loops correctly, but i checked it and it all seems to be right, snapped to the ends of bars.

I am still a bit of a noob with ableton so I was wondering if there might be anything obvious I am missing here. Any help much appreciated.

What sort of music are you dealing with? sometimes, music have increases or decreases in the tempo inadvertently. Other than that, maybe your not doing something write with the start and end of the loop? I slight mistake in the loop would obviously become more noticeable over time.

I am mostly using short 2 bar drum loops, making dnb. I understand about changes in the tempo but i have used the warp to get everything perfectly in time. It all sounds fine for a while but gradually the timing goes wrong.

Yeah I assumed it was something to do with the start and end points, but it all seems right, ie set to the start and ends of bars.

i know you say you've checked; however double check the loop start and length .

if they're not an exact number of beats, they may still read (for example) 8.0.0 if the length is really close to 8 bars. however the last 0 will be a different colour to tell you it's not exact.

aha - think that has sorted it, thanks very much. The start points were minutely off on a couple of the loops.
