Instant mapping not working with Axion 49 & Live 6

Hello,

I’m new to Live 6 and so have been going through the “Playing Software Instruments” lesson. I’ve reached the part where I have the Astrodynamics instrument rack inserted in the 2 MIDI track and armed. If I play notes on my Axiom 49 keyboard then I get audio coming through fine, all well and good.

However, I continued on and followed the instructions in the Connecting MIDI Control Surfaces lesson. Explicitly, I’ve selected the Axiom 49 61 controller in the Control Surface drop-down on the MIDI Sync page of the Preferences, selected USB Axiom 49 In & Out and performed the SysEx dump to configure the Axiom (which seemed to work, as it flashed SYS on it’s LCD for a second or two). Unfortunately, none of the controllers on the Axiom change parameters in Live! All sliders, the buttons below them, the rotary knobs and the transport buttons are sending data since the MIDI Track In Indicator in the top right of the display flashes whenever I use a control on the Axiom, but I don’t get any change in any Live Parameter.

Can anyone please help me, is there a missing step that I’m not aware of?

Windows XP Media Centre Edition
Sony VAIO VGN-AR11S Laptop using built-in (ASIO) audio card
T2500 Intel @ 2GHz
2GB RAM
Axiom 49 (connected via USB) – latest drivers installed

Hello all,

I thought I'd let people know this problem is in fact my mistake!

I did not have all the control groups active when I was recalling the presets that had been set up via Live's control dump feature. With all active everything is working perfectly as described in the manuals. For those curious, see section 3.2.1 on page 17 of the Axiom manuals.

Hi, i just read a post you wrote on the ableton forum about setting up your axiom 49 with ableton. I, like you, believe am missing a step in the process. You reposted that you didn't have all the control groups active when recalling presets.. what does that mean? Could you provide me some information. I am dying to get this controller to work with Live!

thx for the info, i was trying it out but while i was doing that i did something that may have been my probelm instead. I had been able to get the knobs working but only controlling the mixer, and not the parameters on the simpler. But i tried clicking the simpler and it started moving those params. Well now i got some work to do so seeya!
