[BUG] live 6.0.3-SAMPLER-EXS instrument import is still bust
[BUG] live 6.0.3-SAMPLER-EXS instrument import is still bust
when you try and import an EXS instrument which has a sample mapped for C-2 , SAMPLER 'loses' all the sample references in the instrument and gives one of two results
A] a blank patch, no keymappings or velocity mappings at all
B] it reads the wav names wrong, it gives you something looking like user_yourname_documents_samples_presetname_aif and then maps these incorrectly titled soundfiles to the wrong keys - moving them up about 4 notes
which is even stranger because the instruments I'm using are WAVS not even AIFS
anyways, I downloaded the beta of 6.0.2 to see if it was fixed, and I get result [A], prior to the beta I was getting result - either way its broken...
if you import an instrument which starts on the note right above C-2 (C#-2), it works...
any chance this can be fixed in time for 6.0.2 ?
(edit: NO! its still not fixed in 6.0.3 ! ahhhhhhhhhhhhh)

Live is buggy for my computer right now in general. I can't tell you scientifically that it is or is not sampler. I also can't speak freely about the EIC, because I have not had the time to thoroughly evaluate it.
Part of me sincerely believes it should have purchased a slicer or drum utility instead of sampler/EIC, but faith/curiosity prevailed and EIC seemed like the best route to getting to know the sampler.
I could give you a more definitive opinion in a week.

arent they one and the same ? sampler only works in live, so if it crashes they're both to blame if you catch my drift. and as for not owning sampler, well - you wont have to worry about racks of samplers causing crashes, right ?Contra wrote:great,LOFA wrote:I have experienced a few sampler racks that made live quit after a few bars.
so is it a Live bug or is it Sampler?
If I were you contra, I'd get phatmatik pro for now - and pick up sampler next time you got the dough, jah willing the abletons will have ironed out this really embarassing bug by then.
I splashed out on some software for christmas, I got phatmatik pro for instance - I used it a year or two ago on PC, anyways....I see what all the 'we want a slicer' fuss is about now. But my solution for those people is thus: get phatmatik pro, its the shitbombbanana and thats no bullshit. I've only used it on my own sounds so far, mostly non-percussive samples - I've not used it for nicking grooves yet, but I intend to.
anyways...its sweet man, real sweet.....set up a couple of arps and racks with phatmatik pro and you're in glitch heaven.......its all down to your sequencing skills, blood. tonnes of great percussive/melodic potential out of pretty much any of your samples with phatmatik pro, and really quick to work with and get good/interesting results, very light on my dualcore macintel at least
let sampler age for another month or two, my sampler is mostly 'gathering dust' because I cant import my friggin exs patches - I have other shit to do, but still...its amazing how much of a spanner in the works this bug is and it gets so little attention.....i guess no one uses or intends to use/import exs patches starting at C-2 ?
thanks LOFA for confirming this bug on your machine, altho it doesnt crash my cpu - just spits out a crappy blank sampler patch.

Hello b0unce,
unfortunately I was not aware of this problem, sorry.
I couldn't reproduce it either: an exs import with a
sample starting at C-2 seems to work for me.
Could you please repost the sampler-bug.zip?
It was not at its place anymore.
Thank you.

b0unce,
I've downloaded the file and could reproduce the problem.
Don't know if its a broken file or if the import function
behaves wrongly, but indeed I get a key range of [127,0],
which is strange enough (usually you have [0,127]), and also
the sample name is not retrieved correctly.
I'll let you know as soon as I have more info.
